The Detroit Tigers trade Jason Grilli to the Rockies

The Tigers have traded righty reliever Jason Grilli to the Rockies for 22-year old righty reliever Zach Simons. Grilli pitched in 9 games (0 starts) for the Tigers this season and he was 0-1 with a 3.29 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. The Tigers traded Grilli to make room for 26-year old righty Francisco Cruceta on the roster. Cruceta pitched in 3 games (0 starts) in AAA ball this season and he was 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA and a 0.71 WHIP. Cruceta also whiffed 15 batters and only allowed 2 hits in 7 innings. Cruceta hasn’t fared too well in his major league career yet. In 6 games (3 starts) in his major league career, Cruceta is 0-1 with a 10.05 ERA and a 2.09 WHIP. Simons has pitched in 7 games (0 starts) in A-ball this year and he is 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP.
